Current fuses are mainly used for short circuit protection:
The principle of protection is that once the battery is short-circuited, a large over-current quickly breaks the thermal balance during normal operation, instantaneously increases the melt temperature to the melting point of the material, and it will break the circuit, thereby achieving the function of safety protection. The advantage of using the current fuse protection is that it cuts the circuit quickly and thoroughly, and the accuracy of the fuse characteristics is high. When it is charged, in use, or in standby, as long as any part of the short circuit will quickly move. However, it is only sensitive to current and does not respond to external temperatures.

The temperature fuse is mainly used for overheat protection:
The protection principle is that the melt composed of a low-melting alloy material will melt when it exceeds the allowable temperature, thereby cutting off the circuit to achieve the safety protection function. The advantage of using a thermal fuse protection is that the melt is sensitive to both the internal and external temperatures of the device, especially when the phone is placed in a high temperature environment or at high temperatures for other reasons. However, it is relatively responsive to over-temperature caused by over-current. Slow, less accurate, and less reliable than current fuses.

The positive temperature coefficient thermistor is mainly used for overcharge protection:
The protection principle is to take advantage of the positive temperature coefficient characteristics of the PTC material's resistance and the characteristics of the Curie point mutation, that is, the temperature rise caused by any cause (including overcurrent and environment) will cause the material resistance to rise, once it rises to the Curie point. The resistance becomes large enough to shut off the charging current and achieve safety protection. The advantage of using thermistor protection is that it responds to both current and temperature. When the battery is overcharged, it can limit the current in a timely manner. The disadvantage is that the response time is slow, there is still a small leakage current when the switch is off, and the reliability is not high enough.
Positive temperature coefficient thermistor is also called self-recovery fuse, but the function of self-recovering in the protection of mobile phone battery is not necessary, especially overcurrent caused by circuit fault, if the fault is not ruled out and PTC recovers, it is practical to use. It does not make sense.
There are also some low-end mobile phone batteries, in order to save costs, do not use any protection components, or use zero-ohm resistors to protect the factory or customer, are irresponsible and there are considerable security risks.
