Read what VR virtual reality and 360-degree virtual reality are in the end

It seems that everyone is talking about virtual reality and 360-degree virtual reality. But what exactly do these two words mean? What is the working principle? First, you must understand both sides of the VR coin.

Virtual Reality (VR): Virtual reality is a computer-generated image, like the architecture of a game or 3D rendering. The virtual images generated by these softwares are very realistic and can replicate real or fictional worlds. In virtual reality, you can view and interact with each other in a computer-generated experience.

360 degree VR video: 360 degree video is an immersive experience, a spherical video made up of pictures taken by several cameras. These experiences are like virtual reality, you can look around and even interact with it (depending on the platform you use). Like panoramic images, 360-degree video gives you an immersive feel while immersing yourself.

Virtual reality and 360-degree VR video are still relatively new things, and you may not know how to integrate them into your marketing tools and sales strategies. YiVian has been in contact with VR for three years. To make it easier for you to enter the VR world, YiVian created this list of five ways to incorporate VR into your marketing campaign:

1. Create 360-degree or VR content

Virtual reality is the best medium for creating immersive and engaging content. The main social media platforms Facebook and YouTube now support 360-degree VR video. These tech giants are leading the popularity of VR and 360-degree video, I believe everyone will not be surprised: Facebook acquired Oculus in 2014 and invested heavily in VR; while Google just launched Daydream View and Daydream VR (Mobile VR platform).

You've worked hard to build a presence on these social media platforms in the past, and it's time to create marketing opportunities by creating VR or 360-degree content. The easiest way is to create a 360-degree picture or video using an amateur camera such as Ricoh or Samsung 360. More sophisticated options include high-quality VR movies that integrate 360-degree spatial sound and computer-generated virtual reality.

2. Distribute the brand VR Cardboard head display

You don't want to attract millennials through coffee cups and key chains, right? The VR Cardboard headline is the ultimate giveaway because it gives the user a lasting "wow" effect. Not only can potential customers enjoy an immersive VR experience through Cardboard, but they can also watch 360-degree VR videos on YouTube. By distributing the Cardboard heads, you are holding their hands and leading them to a whole new world of VR.

We recently worked with a customer on a 360/VR event and created a VR Cardboard headline with its own brand. Our goal is to attract students between the ages of 18 and 30 to a new concept retail store. But how do we showcase the retail space? We recommend making a 360 degree VR video and adding a title as an explanation. We posted the VR content on YouTube and sent a promotion team to the university to provide a flash-like VR experience. In this way, students can try VR heads to understand the concept of retail stores. Once they are interested in this, we will provide them with a gift: the brand VR Carboard head display.

3. Use VR exhibitions and events

VR heads-up is still a relatively new concept that most people have seen or heard, but have not tried. Setting up a mobile VR experience station in your booth or event is a great way to get people's attention. The audience will be amazed, the audience will be interested, everyone will line up to try your VR experience. You can also provide relevant content for fans on social media: describe the event, take photos and create videos.

4. 360 degree VR video live broadcast

Live video is another means of social media marketing. YouTube now allows us to upload 360-degree VR video content, which can be viewed via VR. This is a new way to interact with your fans because they are immersed in the world you make. We helped a public art festival in 360-degree live broadcast in June: we placed a vision machine in the middle of the festival and broadcast it live on YouTube.

In addition, you can also provide a paid version in your VR app. For example, a 360-degree VR live broadcast of a concert will be a wonderful experience after adding a full 360-degree sound. The application potential of sports events is also very large: this year, the NBA has reached a cooperation agreement with NextVR to broadcast 25 NBA games on Samsung VR.

5. Develop a VR application

Developing VR applications allows you to provide an optimized experience, such as adding interaction, free action, and immediate action buttons. This app allows you to define the VR experience in a whole new way, which is not possible with 360-degree VR video on YouTube. For example, real estate VR applications can be used to provide interactive viewing of properties. In essence, the VR app is an excellent platform, a dedicated experience, not just a play and pause interaction.

to sum up

VR is still new, but it will continue to grow. New hardware is coming to market, and companies like Google, HTC, Oculus and Samsung have teamed up to create the Global VR Association. As a content creator, I am very excited to see VR as the next storytelling platform.
