The above incidents are not a single case. In fact, in recent years, there have been frequent incidents of excessive blood lead in China. Most of them are caused by heavy metal pollution. Lead-acid batteries are one of the biggest “crimes” causing this pollution. Since then, lead-acid batteries have become environmentally friendly. The storm officially swept the industry.

In May this year, the Ministry of Environmental Protection initiated the post-environmental supervision of listed companies that emit heavy metal pollutants, involving a total of 80 listed companies. The breadth of its influence and the magnitude of its influence are even more difficult for the ordinary people to predict. Wherever the environmental turmoil has gone, SMEs that do not meet the requirements have been halted or ordered to be rectified. Large enterprises with strong environmental protection requirements have not only survived the storm but are also expected to benefit from it.

According to statistics released by the Ministry of Environmental Protection, as of July 31, 2011, a total of 1,930 lead-acid storage battery manufacturers, assembly and recycling (recycled lead) companies were investigated, of which 583 were banned, 405 were closed down, 405 were discontinued, and 610 were discontinued. Home; There are 252 companies in production, and 80 are under construction. Among all 1930 companies, there are 639 companies engaged in battery plate processing and production, 1,105 mere assembly companies, and 186 recycling companies. Of the 252 enterprises that were produced, 121 were processing plates, only 108 were assembled and 23 were recycled. According to statistics, the production capacity of seven major battery-producing provinces and cities (which accounted for 78% of the total national production in 2010) is still about 60 million KVAh, which is equivalent to only 42% of national production in 2010. The current total output of normal production enterprises in Zhejiang Province accounted for only 8% of the province's total production in 2010. In the absence of significant changes in market demand, domestic lead-acid batteries have already experienced a situation of oversupply and the price of products has risen.

The “Opinions on Further Improving Lead-acid Battery Industry Renovation and Promoting Industry Transformation and Upgrading” jointly issued by the Zhejiang Environmental Protection Bureau, the Provincial Economic and Trade Commission, the Health Department, the Quality Supervision Bureau, and the Safety Supervision Bureau clearly stipulate that all localities will “adjust and promote”. . The "Opinions" stipulates that the current lead-acid battery company's plate annual production capacity shall not be less than 3 million sets, and the annual assembly capacity shall not be less than 100,000 kVAh; the new 500,000 kVA hour/year lead-acid battery shall be forbidden. Production project (excluding advanced new lead-acid batteries).

As the nation's leading producer of lead-acid batteries, Changxing County in Zhejiang experienced a transformation “labor pain” in 2006. Under the more stringent remediation requirements, Changxing County further refined the four regulations and 16 access standards for environmental protection, quality inspection, hygiene, and safety of the lead battery industry. It is understood that lead-acid battery companies must now survive in Changxing. In addition to the 500-meter health protection distance, the pollution treatment must be increased from one process to three stages. The exhaust gas should be treated with two-stage high-efficiency dust removal equipment, and wastewater should be automatically controlled. Packaging, welding, etc. to implement automated production processes, production workshop designed and operated by micro-negative pressure, air exchange gas must be filtered and purified and returned to the workshop. In this regard, Huzhou Mayor Ma Yi said: "These companies (currently) only shock, not the same as death, they will experience the phoenix nirvana."

Under the action of a series of policy combinations, the lead-acid battery industry has entered the integration period, and the supply and demand relationship of the industry is also changing. At present, the price of lead-acid batteries has begun to soar. At the same time, due to the lack of capacity of lead-acid batteries and the soaring price of lithium-ion batteries, the cost-effectiveness of lithium batteries has begun to appear, and is expected to become an alternative to phase-out capacity.
