NXP Semiconductors today unveiled two new TV reference designs: the NexperiaTM TV520/32 for DVB/PAL and the Nexperia TV507 for analog TV. Both reference designs are based on the same global chip platform, enabling TV manufacturers to develop hybrid digital and analog LCD TVs with the industry's best image quality and unique benefits.With the advent of the TV520/32 for DVB/PAL and the previously released TV520/30 and TV520/20 for ATSC, NXP now offers a hybrid platform for all regions of the world. The TV507 is also based on this platform and is available in a purely analog version, which allows NXP customers to design and manufacture pure analog products on the same platform. All members of this series are fully compatible in pin distribution, which means that TV designers can reuse existing results in the design of many products.

The TV520 reference design is based on the Nexperia home entertainment media processor, which provides IP blocks to handle MPEG multiplex and codec, video scaling, progressive scanning, noise reduction, all video capabilities, video rendering, audio codecs, Digital to analog conversion and audio functions. It also includes a high-definition multimedia interface (HDMI) and an SD/HD analog component input. The TV520 reference design can also be upgraded to a high-end TV solution by simply adding some NXP-related processors.
The reference design will be available in Europe and Asia Pacific from the first quarter of 2007.
