Yin Zheng, CEO of Schneider China, talks about transformation: The key to digital success is IT+OT

【World Wide Web Reporter Zhang Zhiying】 Schneider Electric was founded in 1836 in Rueil, France and is an international giant in the field of global energy efficiency management and electrical equipment. In 1987, Schneider Electric entered the Chinese market and was one of the first foreign companies to enter China. So far, China has become the second largest market for Schneider Electric in the world. The number of employees in China exceeds that of the United States and France. Nearly 30% of Schneider Electric's business is in the Asia-Pacific region, and the biggest contribution is that of the Chinese market.

Yin Zheng, Global Executive Vice President of Schneider and President of China, discusses his plans for transformation

As China's economy entered a new normal, Schneider launched the 2017 Innovation Summit in April and announced that the company will transition in two major areas: digitalization and industry application experts.

Yin Zheng, Executive Vice President of Global Executive Affairs of Schneider and President of China, said about the transformation time, “We are talking about two major transformations: one is the “digital leader”, which is brought about by the combination of IT technology and the application field of OT. The second is the "industry application specialist." This is Schneider Electric has been very strong, and we hope to continue to maintain: in an important position in all key areas of application, and maintain the status of experts."

Yin Zheng believes that digitalization must be successful. The important thing is the integration of IT and OT. OT is actually an industry application. "The first thing to do here is that there must be very clear industry focus. What we do is the key applications, the key processes," he said.

Schneider’s Innovation Summit 2017 starts from Beijing.

Schneider's digital transformation is mainly divided into three aspects. The first is digital products and solutions. Schneider pushed the EcoStruxure platform at the summit to integrate IT and OT to achieve the goal of IoT. The second combination is the change in the entire business model. The third is to enhance the customer's experience through digitalization.

Among them, EcoStruxure targets four terminal markets: buildings, power, industrial and data centers. Buildings include power distribution and entire building automation. Industry, also divided into two, one is to do machinery and equipment, the other is the entire industry, more in process automation and hybrid automation. The last is in the field of power grids. Schneider provides solutions around six major architectures: EcoStruxure power distribution, EcoStruxure data center, EcoStruxure power grid, EcoStruxure factory, EcoStruxure building, and EcoStruxure power distribution.

Yin Zheng said, “We just talked about Schneider Electric doing two things. One is energy efficiency management, and the other is automation. The integration of the two is a real future. All customers, like the data center just mentioned, the data center in addition to the fixed investment. The most important part of its operating costs is electricity, except for manpower, so I would say that the digital revolution is also an energy war from a certain point of view. The promotion of Internet+ must have enough energy to realize digitalization. If we don't even have electricity, we can't even talk about digitization. On the contrary, because it is getting more and more complicated, it's not possible to rely on one person to solve the problem on the spot. A lot of optimization actually depends on digitization, and there are a lot of The computing power, including many new technologies nowadays, such as machine learning, etc., including the augmented reality technology just mentioned, will greatly improve if IT technology is integrated on OT."

Schneider has invested 5% of its turnover in R&D every year, which is relatively high in traditional companies. From a global perspective, China is one of the three major R&D centers in the world. Schneider Electric's turnover in North America, Asia Pacific and Western Europe is roughly the same, China is the second largest market in the world, and the largest market is the United States.

Schneider's operating revenue in 2016 reached 24.7 billion euros.

As the world moves towards more electrification, digitization, low carbonization, and decentralization, Schneider Electric insists on doing two things: energy efficiency management and automation, and the integration of the two through IT technology. Schneider's structure is the introduction of EcoStruxure.

Yin Zheng said that for each industry, Schneider is an industry application expert and he hopes that different customers in different industries can bring value from EcoStruxure.
