Texas Instruments (TI) today announced the launch of the new TVP9010 Integrated HDTV (HDTV) processor and development platform. The highly integrated TVP9010 HDTV processor uses advanced video processing technology based on TI's best-in-class mixed-signal system-on-a-chip (SoC) technology. As part of a low-cost solution that meets ATSC and DVB-T standard broadcast requirements, the TVP9010 combines advanced video processing technology with proven, optimally integrated analog functionality for high-quality images at full HD 1080p resolution . In addition, to support the transition to future DTV technology, TI will also launch an ATSC to NTSC converter box development platform based on another TVP9007 in the TVP9x series, and provide integrated 8-VSB/QAM demodulation. And TVP9x HDTV processor.

TI TVP9010 takes the performance of the TVP9x HDTV series to a new level with innovative video processing technology. Advanced video processing technology developed by TI delivers sharp, clear moving images, vibrant colors, high contrast, and lifelike, natural smooth video presentation. Advanced image filtering and correction techniques reduce image noise, while proven high-quality composite input 3D Y/C decoding enables attractive digital output through analog input signals. Manufacturers can selectively adjust controllable image parameters (such as sharpness, contrast, color, etc.) to achieve differentiated image features. The TVP9010 ATSC HDTV development platform leverages TI's 8-VSB/QAM demodulation technology, audio processing technology and power management capabilities to take advantage of TI's broad portfolio of video solutions. The TVP9010 development platform also includes TI's audio DSP solution, the TAS3208 audio processor, which enables fully differential audio processing for enhanced viewing experience, especially for flat panel displays with limited speaker options.

For more than a decade, TI has introduced advanced decoders, processors, converters, DLP® HDTVs and other important features for digital TV.

Mr. Wang Xucheng, Global General Manager of Digital Video Services, said: “TI has provided 2 million HDTV processors to the ATSC market and sold 50 million NTSC/PAL 2D/3D video decoders worldwide. TI's extensive experience in key TV components. With the TVP9010, designers can bring superior picture quality to large screens with analog or digital sources. Combining TI networks with multi-format codecs/transcoding technology, our Customers can develop next-generation TV products with an architecture that is suitable for future needs."

To extend the capabilities of the TVP9010 HDTV development platform to help manufacturers advance product differentiation and enrich value-added features, TI will demonstrate network DTV solutions and a range of network solutions based on DaVinciTM technology. DaVinci technology supports multi-format encoding and decoding, and is currently used by many leading IP set-top box vendors. With TI's network DTV and flexible DaVinci technology, manufacturers will be able to develop unique HDTV devices that deliver rapidly increasing IP content in real time.
