Recently, the 4th World Internet Conference's "World Internet Leading Scientific and Technological Achievements Release Event" took place in Wuzhen. The event was hosted by He Hexuan, an academician of the Chinese Academy of Engineering and chairman of the China Internet Association. These included Huawei Technologies' 3GPP 5G Pre-commercial System, Arm's Arm Security Architecture, Microsoft’s “Microsoft Xiaobing - Emotional Computation Artificial Intelligence,†China's Satellite Navigation System Management Office's “BeiDou Satellite Navigation System,†and Qualcomm’s “Qualcomm Realize the World's First Officially Based on Its 5G Modem Chipset for Mobile Terminals.†Other highlights were the “5G Data Link Released†from the National Supercomputing Wuxi Center, the “world's first surpassed early classical computer†by the Institute of Quantum Information and Quantum Technology Innovation of the Chinese Academy of Sciences, Tesla's “Tesla Vertically Integrated Energy Solutions,†Beijing Uni-Technology Development Co., Ltd.'s “Big Data-Based Next-Generation Mobile Travel Platform,†Mobike's “Mobike Smart Bicycle without Pile,†Alibaba Group's “ET Brain,†Baidu's “DuerOS Conversational Artificial Intelligence System,†Amazon’s “AWS Greengrass,†and Apple’s “AR Kit.â€
In addition to the 14 independent achievements, four joint announcements were also made, including Tencent's “Tencent Artificial Intelligence Open Platform,†China Data Corporation and IBM’s “Watson Health Promotes ‘Healthy China,’ †Tsinghua University's “Next-Generation Internet Key Technologies,†and Machine Touch Company’s “Machine Touch.â€
Since July 2017, nearly 1,000 leading internet-related scientific and technological achievements have been submitted from countries such as China, the United States, the UK, Germany, France, Sweden, Ireland, Finland, and South Korea. These submissions span various areas, including theory, technology, products, and business models. To ensure fairness, impartiality, and authority, the World Internet Conference Organizing Committee formed a panel of 44 globally recognized experts called the “World Internet Leading Scientific and Technological Achievements Recommendation Commission.†Renowned figures such as Wan Gang, Vice Chairman of the National Committee of the Chinese People's Political Consultative Conference and Minister of the Ministry of Science and Technology, served as honorary directors. He Jianglu, member of the Chinese Academy of Engineering, and Robert Kahn, former U.S. president’s science advisor and 2004 Turing Award winner, led the committee. After thorough evaluation and discussion, the selected achievements were officially approved and presented at the event.
