The difference between incandescent and fluorescent

Incandescent and fluorescent lamps have always been the common source of illumination in life. Although they can often be seen, we don't understand the difference between incandescent and fluorescent lamps. Today, let's take a look at the differences between incandescent and fluorescent lamps. Which of the incandescent and fluorescent lamps is good for the eyes?

fluorescent lamp

The fluorescent lamp is also called a fluorescent lamp. The fluorescent lamp has a filament at each end. The lamp tube is filled with a small amount of argon and thin mercury vapor. The inner wall of the lamp tube is coated with phosphor, and the gas between the two filaments emits ultraviolet light to make fluorescence. The powder emits soft visible light.

The working characteristics of the fluorescent lamp: the fluorescent tube needs a high voltage when it starts to ignite, and only allows a small current to flow when the normal light is emitted. At this time, the voltage across the tube is lower than the power supply voltage.

Incandescent lamp

An incandescent lamp energizes the filament to an incandescent state, using an electric source that emits visible light using thermal radiation. The development trend of incandescent lamps is mainly to develop energy-saving bulbs. Incandescent lamps of different uses and requirements have different structures and components. Although the light efficiency of incandescent lamps is low, the light color and light collecting performance are very good, and it is the largest and most widely used electric light source.

The difference between incandescent and fluorescent lamps 1

Light source: The light of an incandescent lamp is full-color light, and the ordinary fluorescent lamp is monochromatic light. When viewed under the daylight of monochromatic light, the color of a certain color will change, that is, the color is not true. The new three-color fluorescent lamp is a full-color fluorescent lamp. The color of the object under the three primary colors of daylight is more realistic.

The life of an incandescent lamp is related to the temperature of the filament, because the higher the temperature, the easier the filament will sublimate. The blackening process at both ends of the fluorescent lamp is: the sublimation of the tungsten wire directly turns into a tungsten gas, and the tungsten gas encounters the wall of the lower temperature and condenses on the wall of the lamp tube and becomes black.

When the tungsten wire is sublimated to be thinner, it is easily blown off after being energized, thereby ending the life of the lamp. So the power of incandescent lamps is greater.

Working principle: The fluorescent tube is based on the mercury atom of the lamp, and the ultraviolet light is emitted by the process of gas discharge (the main wavelength is 2537 angstroms = 2537×10-10 m). About 60% of the energy consumed can be converted to ultraviolet light. Other energy is converted to heat.

The fluorescent lamp emits visible light by absorbing ultraviolet light from the fluorescent material on the inner surface of the tube. Different phosphors emit different visible light. Generally, the efficiency of converting ultraviolet light into visible light is about 40%. Therefore, the efficiency of the fluorescent lamp is about 60% x 40% = 24% - about twice that of the same power tungsten filament lamp.

Luminous efficiency: the luminous efficiency of ordinary incandescent lamps is only 7 ~ 19lm / W, and the fluorescent lamps can reach 27 ~ 67lm / W, saving power significantly;

Service life: ordinary incandescent lamp life is 1000 hours, while fluorescent lamps can reach 1500-5000 hours (but frequent start-up has a great impact on the life of fluorescent lamps);

Performance to adapt to voltage changes: incandescent lamps typically have a lifetime of 1000 hours at rated voltage. If the voltage is increased by 10%, the luminous efficiency is increased by 17%, and the lifetime is reduced by 28%, that is, by 280 hours. If the voltage is reduced by 10%, the life can be extended, but the luminous efficiency is reduced by 19%, so the incandescent lamp is adapted to the voltage. The performance of the change is worse than that of fluorescent lamps.

So which of the incandescent and fluorescent lamps is good for the eyes?

According to the difference between incandescent lamps and fluorescent lamps, it can be found that objects under incandescent lamps are not real, and incandescent lamps require high voltage stability and stroboscopic, resulting in eye fatigue. In summary, we can conclude that fluorescent lamps are better for the eyes than incandescent lamps, so we can use fluorescent lamps as the light source indoors.
