Three hearts of young people selling lamps

They, three young people who sell lights, no matter what lights they sell, where they are sold, the "lights" in their own hearts - ideals, will never go out and will not be sold. - Inscription "selling lights for six years, every night after work back to the 'home', walking in the bustling streets, always thinking: the countless lights in front of the eyes, which one belongs to me?" "But at least light Still not extinguished in my dreams." A Zhong's cockroaches only disappeared for a second and was erased by a bright smile. "Now I have my own shop, the pressure is even greater. I don't think I am the boss, we are still wage earners, working for ourselves. Isn't it? You see, we still have to be salespersons." Xiao Huang shrugged. Opening a shop: Working for myself Xiao Xue, male, Qingyuan, Guangdong, 25 years old, unmarried, entered the lighting industry for more than four months.
Xiao Huang, male, Shantou, Guangdong, 25 years old, unmarried, engaged in the lighting industry for nearly five years.
On May 1 this year, they opened a lighting shop in Guangzhou Nantian International Lighting Center and started their business.
Interview time: September 4th afternoon.
Interview location: A lighting shop on the second floor of Guangzhou Nantian International Lighting Center. Reporter: How did you enter the lighting industry?
Xiao Xue: I have been working in secondary school for a few years, and I have sold the lamp for 4 months. I have been working in Nantian Property before, doing air-conditioning installation, and sometimes installing lamps. I have never thought about doing lighting business until I met Xiao Huang and had the opportunity to cooperate with the store to realize that I had to get involved in the lighting industry.
Xiao Huang: 5 years ago, I came to Guangzhou. It was hard to find a job. A friend introduced a job as a salesperson in the lighting shop of Da Nan Road. At that time, I was not qualified to have any requirements for work. For me, I have a job, so I entered the lighting industry. The boss is very good to me, so I have been doing this store in May this year. Counting, there are also 5 years of age. Reporter: Is the lighting store a thing in your plan?
Xiao Huang: Actually, this shop was opened by the boss when I was working at Da Nan Road, but the boss did not put energy and time in this store, resulting in poor management. We did not do any thorough market research before taking over. Because I was underfunded, I found Xiao Xue to work together.
Xiao Xue: I didn't know about Xiao Huang and the lighting industry before the cooperation. When this opportunity came to me, I had only one strength in my heart, an impulse to start a business. Moreover, I think Xiao Huang is a good person. Entrepreneurship came so fast, I have no plans at all. Reporter: How much money do you each come up with?
Xiao Xue: 30, 40,000 per person, not much? This is the main factor in my quick decision to start a business. Reporter: In a high-end, highly competitive professional store in Nantian, your store is too small compared to other stores. Don't you worry about being swallowed up?
Xiao Xue: Our store is really small. The entire store covers an area of more than 30 square meters. The actual business area is only about 17 square meters. It is a fraction of the shops in Nantianli.
Xiao Huang: I didn't think about it. I just thought that the reason why the store was losing money was because the boss didn't pay attention to it and invested less time and energy. If I can concentrate on the operation, I believe it will be better. Reporter: Can you give me the operating cost of your store and introduce the business situation?
Xiao Xue: rent, electricity, management fees, business tax, etc., each month's expenditure must be more than 7,000 yuan, so our monthly sales should be kept at nearly 30,000 yuan to be flat. It opened on May 1 this year. In the past 4 months, we have made money every month. Although not many, everyone can get three or four thousand, but as far as I know about other stores, there are quite a few. The store situation is not optimistic, and we have just started, it is quite good to be able to do this. We are bittersweet, sometimes there are no sales in the store for several days, and we haven't opened the market yet. However, sometimes the sales are very impressive. One day our sales reached more than 10,000 yuan.
Xiao Huang: We operate a small shop. The investment is to be carefully calculated and operated at the lowest cost. Therefore, we do not currently hire a salesperson. The salesperson is the two of us. Reporter: It is different from the previous salesperson. Now, as an operator, what are the management experiences? Xiao Xue: The positioning of the products to be operated should be clear. Our products are simple and modern in style, and the consumer groups are mainly young white-collar workers. In addition, as a form of business, the store attracts customers, and the quality and style of the products are important, but I think the service is the most important. Most of our stores are home consumers, and their chances of buying for the second time are extremely small. We don’t think that: they didn’t come for the second time anyway, and once they’ve done it, everything will be fine. Before the sale, we must sincerely stand on the customer's point of view, buy lamps for them, and make practical and reasonable suggestions; the most important thing is to do a good job of each customer's after-sales service, to know the consumer in these households. There are a lot of potential consumers behind them, and their word of mouth is the most effective. In fact, many of our customers are currently introduced by old customers. Reporter: Now that you are the boss, should you consider the future planning? Is there a bigger ideal?
Xiao Huang: First of all, we are not the boss. Now that I have my own store, the pressure is even greater, but I don't think I am the boss. We are still wage earners and work for ourselves. No? You see, we still have to be a salesperson. Xiao Xue: Yes, we have two identities, and the wage earners are even heavier. For the future considerations, we still think very little about it. The most important thing is that we first manage this store first. The benefits are good. We hired one or two salespersons to take care of us and let us vacate. This is what we really consider. When planning bigger and farther. Ideal, everyone has it, but many people are hiding in the heart, hehe. Resignation: In order to make a bright heart, Ajian, Zengcheng, Guangdong, 29 years old, unmarried, entered the lighting industry for six years. It is not easy to interview Ajian. After he quit his job as a salesperson, he went home and adjusted for a week. After returning to Guangzhou, he went to Panyu again and was busy moving and contacting. I had an appointment about ten days ago, and I pushed it again and again until now.
Interview time: September 6th afternoon.
Interview location: A bench on the first floor of Weijiasi Square, Zhujiang New Town, Guangzhou.
Ajian: Sorry, I have been running around recently, and I can only talk to you until now. Reporter: It doesn't matter, your business matters. Can you talk about your career experience?
Ajian: After graduating from high school in 1995, I first repaired motorcycles in Dongguan, and then went to Shenzhen to repair and sell cars. The body really couldn't adapt to the smell of gasoline. In 2000, in the introduction of friends, I went to Tainan Road, Guangzhou, to be the lighting salesman. At that time, my lighting salesperson friend had been doing it for two years, and the treatment was much better than the current salesperson. There were 3,000 without the commission. Two years later, I went to Anwar Materials Decoration City. In 2003, I went to Haomeijia, and later at the Mercure Center and Nantian International Lighting Center, until recently resigned. It is now possible to leave Guangzhou.
Reporter: Why did you resign? Six years, what made you decide to leave Guangzhou?
Ajian: Selling lights for six years, going back to work "home" every night, walking on the bustling streets, always thinking: countless lights in front of you, which one belongs to me? Ha, but the lights are not extinguished at least in my dreams. I have been doing this in Guangzhou for a long time. In fact, my sales performance is very good, but my career has not improved, and my money has not been earned. I am helpless. Moreover, I am not optimistic about the current lighting market in the urban area of Guangzhou, I want to change a place, seek better development space, and light up the heart.
Reporter: Where is it going to go? how's the work going recently?
Ajian: I may have to go to Panyu, Foshan, or Changsha and Shanghai. But still engaged in the lighting industry. After all, there are six years, and it is not easy to change. A friend invested 300,000 yuan to open a lighting shop in Panyu Jisheng Weibang. I am helping him recently. He invited me to join, I am considering it. As for Changsha and Shanghai, as far as I know, the demand for lighting in these two places is very large, just like the Guangzhou market a few years ago.
Reporter: Just now you said that you are not optimistic about the lighting market in the urban area of Guangzhou. What is the specific view? Ajian: I look at the Guangzhou lighting market with the eyes of a salesperson with a six-year experience. I think that the residential property development in the old city of Guangzhou is now close to the limit, and the housing prices in recent years have remained high, which has caused the home lighting consumer market to become saturated. The real estate development space of Panyu and Huadu is still relatively large, especially in Huadu, so the demand for home lighting in these two regions is still growing. At present, most of the engineering lighting in Guangzhou has been directly received by manufacturers in ancient towns and other places. In the past two years, the sales of lighting products I have served in Guangzhou have been declining year by year. Reporter: If you continue to work in the field of auto repair, you may have achieved something now. Do you regret entering the lighting industry? Do you plan to change careers later?
Ajian: The key is that I don't adapt to the smell of gasoline and I am not used to the car repair environment. It’s inevitable that I would regret it if I haven’t achieved anything in the lighting industry. At least I still have a “lighting” in my heart. I will continue to “go with this lantern to go down this road”. Change, look later, it is hard to say now. (Text / reporter Chen Hao)
