AksIM™支持Universal Robots打造自动化智能工厂

Industrial robots typically operate in secure zones, performing heavy, hazardous, and repetitive tasks in industries such as aerospace, automotive assembly, material handling, painting, and more. Traditional industrial robots tend to be large and cumbersome, occupying significant space, and their programming processes can be time-consuming.

As manufacturing demands and new technologies evolve, factory automation is becoming increasingly diverse. With the growing concept of smart factories, several new robotics manufacturers have emerged globally, particularly in China. The application of robots has expanded from traditional heavy industries into light industries like 3C (computers, communications, and consumer electronics) product assembly and other automated production lines, which require high precision and flexibility.

In today’s industrial automation landscape, the use of collaborative robots is experiencing rapid growth. These robots are designed to work alongside staff, using simple and quick programming, or even self-learning processes, to complete planned production tasks. Robots are no longer just a solution for large enterprises; small and medium-sized enterprises (SMEs) also benefit significantly from their use.

Universal Robots (UR), based in Denmark, is one of the most successful and recognized robotics manufacturers on the market. UR's multi-axis collaborative robots utilize the AksIM series absolute magnetic rotary encoders, offering excellent performance, system safety, and stability.

No matter how well-designed a robot may be, improving its functionality and efficiency still depends on the selected components. A typical robot consists of a body (frame), servo drive systems, reducers, and control systems. Since each joint needs real-time position tracking and feedback to the controller, encoders are critical components for ensuring the robot's operational accuracy.

UR robots incorporate the AksIM series magnetic rotary encoders provided by RLS, an associate company of Renishaw, significantly enhancing overall performance. The AksIM encoders are installed at the end of the reducer, directly monitoring the actual rotational angle of the robot joint. Compared to some designs where encoders are mounted on the front of the reducer, this method eliminates system errors, achieving a repeatability precision of ±0.1mm, meeting most market demands.

The AksIM encoder is a true absolute encoder that determines its absolute position quickly upon power-up without the need for a backup battery. It features multiple built-in self-monitoring functions, ensuring the safe operation of UR robots. The compact design of the encoder and magnetic ring allows seamless integration with the reducer, increasing the joint diameter by only 7 mm. The cable runs through the hollow ring, simplifying cable management and enabling customers to design systems more flexibly. Additionally, the lightweight encoder reduces the load on the joint, lowering energy consumption.

The AksIM encoder boasts exceptional performance metrics, meeting the stringent requirements of the most demanding robotic applications. Its resolution reaches up to 20 bits, with a system accuracy of +/-0.1° and a repeatability better than the unit resolution. The AksIM encoder has strong dirt resistance, with a protection rating of IP64, making it suitable for harsh industrial environments.

UR collaborative robots are considered the only ones on the market that combine ease of use, flexibility, and safety. UR is collaborating with several leading companies to develop more flexible production processes and create healthy, safe working environments.

Staff without technical backgrounds or insufficient experience can program and debug robots using the innovative PolyScope Robot System software. The installation of UR robots takes less than three hours, allowing them to be deployed on different production lines immediately, offering endless possibilities for flexible line transitions.

Moreover, the lightweight UR robots can be mounted on workbenches, equipment, or even ceilings, enabling manufacturers to adapt flexibly to various applications. UR robots' unique force sensing and force control functions ensure worker safety, so no protective gear is required when collaborating with robots. When the force exerted by workers exceeds the specified range, UR robots automatically stop.
