AksIM™支持Universal Robots打造自动化智能工厂

Industrial robots are typically designed to operate within secure zones, performing heavy-duty, hazardous, and repetitive tasks in industries such as aerospace, automotive assembly, material handling, painting, and more. Traditional industrial robots tend to be large, bulky, and take up significant space, while the programming process can often be time-consuming.

As manufacturing demands evolve and new technologies emerge, factory automation is becoming increasingly diverse. With the growing popularity of smart factory concepts, numerous new robotics manufacturers have emerged globally, particularly in China. The application of robots has expanded beyond traditional heavy industries into light industries, such as the assembly of 3C products (computers, communications, and consumer electronics) and other automated production lines, which require high precision and flexibility.

In today's industrial automation landscape, the use of collaborative robots is experiencing rapid growth. These robots are designed to work alongside human staff, completing assigned production tasks through simple and quick programming or even self-learning processes. Robotics solutions are no longer exclusive to large enterprises; small and medium-sized businesses (SMEs) can also benefit significantly from their adoption.

Universal Robots (UR), based in Denmark, is one of the most successful and widely recognized robotics manufacturers on the market. Their multi-axis collaborative robots utilize the AksIM series absolute magnetic rotary encoders, offering superior performance, system safety, and stability.

No matter how excellent the design may be, improving a robot's functionality and efficiency still depends heavily on the components chosen. A typical robot consists of a body (frame), servo drive system, reducer, and control system. Since real-time position tracking of each joint is required and feedback must be sent to the controller, encoders play a critical role in ensuring the operational accuracy of robots.

UR robots incorporate the AksIM series magnetic rotary encoders provided by RLS, an associated company of Renishaw, significantly enhancing overall performance. The AksIM encoder is mounted at the end of the reducer, directly monitoring the actual rotational angle of the robot joint. Compared to designs where encoders are installed at the front of the reducer, this method eliminates system errors, achieving a repeatability accuracy of ±0.1 mm, which fully meets most market demands.

The AksIM encoder is a true absolute encoder that determines its absolute position immediately upon power-on without requiring a backup battery. It features multiple built-in self-monitoring functions, helping ensure the safe operation of UR robots. The compact design of the encoder and magnetic ring allows for seamless integration onto reducers, with only a 7 mm increase in joint diameter. Cables pass through hollow rings, simplifying cable management and enabling customers to design systems more flexibly. Additionally, the lightweight encoder greatly reduces the load on the joints, thereby lowering energy consumption.

The AksIM encoder boasts exceptional performance metrics, meeting even the most stringent requirements for robotic applications. It offers a resolution of up to 20 bits, with system accuracy of ±0.1° and better-than-unit-resolution repeatability. The AksIM encoder has excellent contamination resistance, with an IP64 protection rating, making it suitable for harsh industrial environments.

UR collaborative robots are considered the only ones currently available that combine ease of use, flexibility, and safety. UR is collaborating with several prominent companies to develop more flexible production processes and create healthy, safe working environments.

Staff without technical backgrounds or insufficient experience can program and debug robots using the innovative PolyScope Robot System software. The installation of UR robots takes less than three hours, allowing them to be deployed quickly on different product lines, providing endless possibilities for flexible line conversions.

Moreover, the lightweight UR robots can be mounted on workbenches, equipment, or even ceilings, enabling manufacturers to adapt flexibly to various applications. UR robots' unique force sensing and force control capabilities ensure worker safety, so no protective gear is needed when working alongside robots. If the force exerted by a worker exceeds the specified limit, the UR robot will automatically stop.
