ON Semiconductor Introduces New LED Drivers to Improve Product Performance in LED Lighting Applications

ON Semiconductor has introduced a new off-line LED driver, the NCL30001. The drive uses a single-stage integrated power factor correction (PFC) and isolated buck-AC-DC power conversion to help reduce component count and system cost.

The driver operates in continuous conduction mode and can be configured as a constant current driver or a fixed output voltage driver for designs with power requirements from 40 W to 150 W. The controller is also available in a 16-lead SOIC package with an operating frequency adjustable from 20 kHz to 250 kHz. The multi-function latch pin has an over-temperature shutdown circuit that provides circuit designers with a high degree of flexibility.

Other specifications of the NCL30001 controller include high voltage start-up circuitry, voltage feedforward for improved loop response, input undervoltage detection, internal overload timer, latch input, and high precision multipliers that reduce input line harmonics.

ON Semiconductor also offers an isolated single-segment power factor correction LED driver evaluation board for applications requiring direct current output from 40 W to 100 W power range. The current can be adjusted from 0.7 A to 1.5 A for a wider range of high power, high brightness LEDs.

The device complements the overall energy efficiency of LED power systems to improve system performance in applications such as LED street lights, low ceiling lights, exterior wall lights, and building lighting. The drive is currently priced at $1.05 per 10,000-piece lot.
